Been a long day….

Rosie had a rough night/morning/afternoon, so I had one as well. Still having diarrhea. She starts the Colonoscopy Prep tomorrow. We have having home health aides come in for the next 3 days for a few hours to help me out.

THANKFUL that Rosie is feeling well now.

Went and got our allergy shots today.

Then Dad took us to Verizon. Another IPAD 3 HD for the family.

We will be having 2 dell netbooks, 2 Dell Laptops for sell, plus 2-24″ Monitors and 1 all-in-one printer.

While at out Verizon Rosie got sick and we came home instead of going grocery shopping. Dad went back out and did it for us. Grateful we have such a good daddy.

Been setting up the new ipad tonight.

Sugar was 207 this morn. Called my family doc – Dr Blake Melling -and he can’t see him till next week. Vacation! So I called my endocrinologist and her nurse practitioner is seeing me next week.

While we were out Dr Melling called and told me to take 15 units of Humulin R… I don’t have any! Of course his office was closed when I got the message. Going to call him in the morning and get him to call me a prescript in.

Sugar was 190 at 6 pm… Gonna go test now…. 257!

Going to ask to get back on my Insulin Pump!

Rosie woke me up 4 times last night. I am wore out. Will try and get all the Zzzz’s I can this weekend. Busy week ahead.

Very Achy all over. The worse pains are in my shoulders and thighs tonight. Having Chroinc Fatigue syndrome and Fibromyalgia is NO FUN!

Looks like I will be heading to bed early tonight.

Haven’t heard from John in 3 days. Last message was a VIRUS! Glad I noticed it! His grandsons must have been downloading Porn again.. LOL just joking. They download lots of games, music, etc and get all sorts of malware, bugs, virus and crap on his pc and laptop. I wrote and told John about the buggy message. He is probably wiping the pc clean. So glad he is computer literate! He is the most intelligent man I know. Adore his mind. heart, and soul. Fortunate to be his best friend and have him as mine. GOOD MAN!

Allergies acting up tonight. Mainly my eyes. Itchy, Scratchy, Feel coated. Gonna go wash them.

Sending well wishes, warm thoughts and sincere prayers,

Angela Bell Goode

Rose Lee and Angela Bell

Rosie had a good day.She spoke to her nurse and all her labs have improved since February. She is scheduled for her 1st colonoscopy: Monday the 26th. She is high risk so the prep is not as bad as most. Miralax 2-3 times Friday/Saturday with a  Low Residue Diet. On Sunday, clear fluids and Miralax 4 times. She doesn’t need an enema nor has to drink the gallon of that nasty stuff! I have had 5 colonoscopies. Diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Diabetic Gastroparesis. :-(

Took Dad to Capt D’s for his 71st birthday. Coconut Shrimp.

Went grocery shopping. Rosie has put me on a diet. Got all healthy foods today. Fruits, Veggies, Protein!

My sugar was down to 248 this am. I increased my metaglip from 2.5 to 5 mg twice a day yesterday. Went to 7.5 mg tonight. Will continue on that to see how my sugar levels reacts. Really not wanting to go back on insulin nor being attached to an insulin pump all the time but I may HAVE to.

Got home from shopping… just had sat down when I heard a loud noise. Seems Tater and Jazzi (our cats) had knocked down Dad’s 32″ Flatscreen TV in his bedroom…  it comes on but the screen has lines all over it!!! It is only 9 months old and….. Looks like he will be buying a new one. BOO! Was hoping Dad would be buying him an Ipad for me to borrow…. looks like that may not happen now. AARDVARK!

I am feeling better today than I have in months. Grateful for that. Must have been high sugar levels dragging me down.

Just wish my fibro aches and pains would subside. Still feels like I have a ton of elephants pushing down on my shoulders. Even been having chest tightness lately. Still having balance issues. My hip has given out on me a few times recently.

My boys Smoki and Snickers are adoring the warm weather. Love going bye-bye with us. They are such a hoot. RIDING THE WIND. I had 4 of my boys in bed when I fell asleep last night.. Tater, Jazzi, Smoki, and Snickers…. all in a twin (single) bed.

Hope to dye my hair tomorrow…. Rosie’s too.

Dogs need bathed. They smell like DOG!

Just wish I had a man to take care of me. SO JEALOUS OF OTHERS WHO DO.

I am such a great person. Full of compassion with tons of love that I willing to share.

I KNOW MY HELPMATE IS OUT THERE SOMEWHERE! Just praying that he and I discover one another. TRYING to wait… just so hard at times. Just need someone to cuddle with, SHAG with, confide in, share life and all its experiences with. SCARED that I am always gonna be an old maid. I know that my predestined mate is out there. Perhaps even will read this blog entry…

I am asking The Lord Jesus Christ to guide my soulmate and I together. Let him know that I am the woman your created for him. I know all things are possible with God. I surrender my future love and myself to God. I know he and I will do great things together. I just know it! Bring me into his life and I into his.

God I admit and confess ALL my sins.  FORGIVE ME. I know I should be doing more for You. Guide me to what I need to do for you. USE ME!

Sending prayers to whoever reads this.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL,

Angela Bell Goo\ode

Rosie Update

Rosie had a vomiting episode that came on instantly… without any warning… It was clear foamy liquid. I hate seeing her vomit so violently. Poor thing. Happened about 3 hours after having dinner.. she ate 100% of her 2 oz of pureed chicken. Thankful that a  Registered Nurse was in here to assist us tonight.

Rosie’s Blood Pressure has been up a lil all day. Also having a mild fever.

Pray that she sleeps well tonight.

I am exhausted today. Achy in all my joints. Wore out. Not getting any decent rest here at the hospital. Can’t wait to get home and in my own bed. Hopefully soon.

Praying for Rosie.

Rosie Update

Rosie had a good night. Feeling well today. Eating fairly well.. would do so much better IF the food was palatable. She had a scrambled egg, strawberry jelly, and milk for breakfast.

Dr Boyce ( gastric bypass surgeon) and Dr Adams (infectious disease doc)  has visited Rosie this morn. Boyce is aiming for Rosie to get released by the weekend. Dietician needs to add up her protein intake and report to him. He has ordered another abdominal ct scan to check for inflammation and abscess of her tummy. Dr Adams is ordering her IV vancomycin for home use as well as flagyl orally.

Rosie has had very minor nausea the past few days and has kept ALL her food and fluids down. Praise God.

She sat up for an hour in her wheelchair yesterday. Aiming for 90 min today.

She is still receiving TPN nutrition feedings by IV. I assume they will continue for a few days once she arrives back home.

We are not certain of Rosie’s highest weight but assume she has lost around 100 lbs so far. She is still weak and does not set up straight. So the weight loss is not that noticeable yet. Once she can sit up better and wear clothes other than extremely loose garments( due to her hernia wound and her MRSA drain tube) all her weight loss will be greatly visible.  She was wearing size 32/34 pants. Prior to surgery she was down to a size 24. She has lost 40+ lbs since so I assume she will be able to wear even smaller pants as soon as the wounds heal. She has a new wardrobe at home waiting for her. We purchased all sorts of clothes prior to surgery. She has some really sexy clothes. My sis is gonna be a skinny minny SLUT! LOL.. Just like her sis. LOL.

My chronic fatigue syndrome has a major flare-up. So tired. Really severe shoulder… thigh… hip… aches and pings.  I slept so-so last night. Gonna take a nap with Rosie shortly.

Rosie is up every 90 min to urinate at night. She uses a bed pan. The nurse assistants take care of it at night and I do it during the day.

Been having panic attacks. Just stressed and feeling lonely. Missing John. Even though we text and email daily I haven’t seen him LIVE on cam. He is gonna go on a holiday to Spain with his sis. Gonna miss him even more.

I am hoping Rosie gets released tomorrow.

Thanks for all your prayers, support and well wishes.

God bless,

Angela

Rosie MRSA

Dr Williams told Rosie that they drained off 100 ml/3 oz. of MRSA abscess and pus from her abdomen. Nurse Tanya told us they they removed it from ONE large pocket of pus… and that Rosie had smaller pockets of pus that they hoped would be taken care of by Vancomycin.

Rosie is in isolation and every medical person that comes in her room MUST wear gloves and a plastic gown. So far today I have noticed 1 nurse and 1 CNA who did not follow procedure. Even Dr Williams did not wear the gown.

Rosie refuses her oral meds since they make her so sick. Still having nausea and yuckiness. Drinking sips of water only. They have her on Bariatric TPN which is fairly new. She had been on a regular diet TPN.

Williams stopped Ivanz but continued the vancomycin. She takes Zofran by IV for nausea but it does not help much at all.

Rosie’s WBC – white blood count – has went from 30,000 down to 18,000… which shows the vancomycin is working.

Her wound vac got clogged last night and was off for around 10 hours till they got it cleansed and rehooked.

They did bring Rosie a tray of liquids for lunch but she declined it.

Water only for her for now.

She is feeling bad today.

I am in the midst of a fibromyalgia flare-up. Shoulders and Thighs affected the most. Tired. Been resting all day.

Heading to the cafeteria in about an hour for some dinner.

Keep on praying. Thanks.

Sending love and prayers to all those being affected and about to be by Hurricane Irene.

Rosie is resting….

Rosie is severely malnourished and dehydrated…. and is finally receiving nutrition through an IV.

Sara the RN showed me how to use the IV pump and mix up the customized infusions to give Rosie. She will be on it for the next 48 hours straight and then it will be 12 hours at night only after that.

I am learning so much about medical care. Looks like I will have my RN license by the end of the week. LOL!

Rosie’s temp  was 99.5.

BP was normal.

I am testing her glucose levels every 6 hours.

I have to flush her PICC lines twice daily with saline. Was also given heparin syringes to flush them if needed.

Also have to clean and stuff her JP drain wound once a day with dry packing ribbon. She has a tunnel about 4 cm into her stomach area. It was bloodier today than it had been. Thank God I am not squeamish at all.

The hernia wound repair wound is open and healing nicely so far. It started out about 2W x 3L x 2D but is closing.  Still looks like a crater. A wound vac is attached to it to help with the healing process. She ONLY has mild pain now.

Only thing Rosie can keep down is water. Bet she has lost 45 lbs in the last month… maybe even more than that.

Her esophagus is not burning now. Started Prilosec yesterday.

She has an area on her tummy that is red, inflamed  and hot. Nurse agreed with me that it looks like cellulitis. Will call Dr Melling tomorrow about it.

Her PT and INR is at a therapeutic level. Will prolly resume coumadin 5 mg tomorrow.

Rosie felt horrible this evening. Was so bad that she was crying. She is now feeling better and is sound to sleep. PRAISE GOD!

My Baby Love John is not feeling well. He either has gallstones or an ulcer. He can’t get a doc appt for a week. Will prolly end up in the ER. Sending all my love and prayers to him in Scotland.

Hope I sleep well tonight as I did last night.

Rosie had been waking me every 2-3 hours to use a bedpan BUT for almost a week now I am the one waking her to urinate. Barely urinating at all. Maybe had an output of 600 cc today. Under 800 is dangerous. The IV fluids will surely have her peeing  more often hopefully with more output. I expect her to wake me every 3 hours tonight or so.  Takes me forever to go back to sleep. :-(

I am so exhausted. Doing so much for Rosie and not dealing with worry and stress very well. So much going on with Rosie. So worried about her. She was way more talkative after getting the TPN infusions going. She says as soon as she is able she and I are headed to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for a week vacay! WOO-HOO. Smoki and Dad are also going with us.

Really hope to go to WV in a few months. Would love to see my cousins Rebecca, Sara, Shay, and Brandy. Plus my Aunts and Uncles there.

Sending healing prayers to Rebecca… she is having edema which docs have yet to find treatment or cause for. She sees a rheumatologist soon.

Praying for cousin Brandy and her allergy issues. Ah-Choo!

Thankful for Rosie’s home health aides… Peggy and Dina are FAMILY now. Love them dearly and appreciate all they do.

Been on the phone most of the day with doctors, nurses, and medical coordinators. Getting Rosie all fixed up to receive a variety of services.

Mediserv brought a trapeze bar and we didn’t have room for it. It was to help Rosie raise her self up in her hospital bed better. BUT it needed a foot behind the head of her bed and we just don’t have room for it.

Received one order of medical supplies by UPS and another one by courier today. Can only imagine how much all this is costing. Thank God it all is 100% covered by medicare, dad’s private insurance Wells Fargo and Medicaid/ Tenncare. Her gastric bypass surgery was prolly around $50,000. Bet her hernia repair was around $20,000. Can only imagine how much the hospital bed, medical supplies, IV pump and the nurses visits are costing. Just glad she has insurance.

The doc prescribed Zofran for Rosie. It is something like $700 for 30 pills. Thank God they have a generic one now. Insurance would not cover that particular med. Dad had to pay $45 for it.

I have over 60 doses of lovenox injections. They cost a small fortune… insurance paid. Hoping the pharmacy can take them back. The Dr JUST prescribed too many of them.

Time to wake Rosie and test her glucose and then off to bed for me.

Asking everyone to pray for Rosie to have a speedy recovery. Thanks.

I love my Sissy Rose Lee.

Prayers needed for Rose Lee

Rosie is weak and not feeling well. Not able to keep down her meds, protein, or vitamins… she can keep down tea and water SOMETIMES.

She is starting TPN infusions tonight. Waiting for the nurse to get here and hook up the IV and pump.

Rosie has been crying. Feeling really bad.

She doesn’t have much pain in her hernia repair area now. THANK GOD!

Dr. Boyce thinks she may have a stricture and is making her an appointment with a Knoxville gastroenterologist Dr Wilhoite.

She sees Dr Boyce on Friday.

May just end up taking her to the ER… hate seeing her feel so poorly.

Prayers needed and appreciated.

THANKS!

Rosie is not feeling well…

Rosie has nausea and vomiting. Unable to keep down her liquids, protein or vitamins since last night. Just called her bariatric nurse Sarah, waiting for her to call me back. Worried about dehydration. Please pray for Rosie. Thanks!

RN just called in Zofran. Dad is gone to pick it up.

I am measuring Rosie’s urine output. Total must be 800 cc over a 24 hour period or she will have to go to the hospital. Last one was 200 cc.

Rosie is back to clear liquids for now. Pray her esophagus starts feeling better. Feels like it is burning. Must be inflammed and irritated.

Prayers NEEDED.

Update on my lovely sis Rosie and I

Rosie had a good night. She was up early so she will prolly nap later on today.

Had her first Home Health visit today with Pete who is an Registered nurse. He will be visiting 3x’s a week to do wound care. I have photo’s of Rosie’s hernia wound… if you wanna see them let me know @ http://angelarose.com/prayers-for-rosie/ …  and I will email them to you IF you are family or a friend… Not for the squeamish or for strangers! To me they are KEWL Pics. Wounds and Blood do not bother me at all.

I have slept 4 hours. Will try and nap when her caregiver Peggy gets here at 3pm for some respite care. Peggy will be here till 11 pm tonight. Was a blessing last night. I was wore out. Not much better today. Fatigued. Achy. My Fibromylgia has been acting up for a few days. Also had a menstrual period this week. My 3rd in 6 YEARS! Yuck!

GOOD NEWS I have lost more weight! I am wearing a medium size 8-10 sundress and size 7 panties right this minute. So proud of myself.

Gonna go get a protein bar for lunch and then get a lil rest.

Thanks for your prayers and may they continue.

Rosie…

Rosie just sent a nurse out to tell me not to worry and that surgery would begin in 15-30 min. Dr Boyce is working her into his schedule.

I pray that the good Lord guides and instructs Dr Boyce’s hands to be able to do the best hernia repair possible on her. That she heals well and has no more issues with hernias. This is her second one. Had one repaired in 1999 after a 6 month bout of chronic bronchitis and coughing. This hernia is in the same area as that one was. Only noticed it within the last 6 months.

Pray that she no longer has stomach pains, nor nausea, nor vomiting, nor diarrhea and that she can recovery quickly from it all.

Dad is on his way to the hospital. Should be here within the hour.

I have been teary-eyed and worried to death about Rosie. I am here all alone.

I LOVE MY BABY SISSY!

Pray that God preforms a miracle and heals her. I want Rosie to have a full, healthy, and long life.

~Angela

July 29, 2011, at 8:48 pm

Prayers Needed…

Rosie is not feeling well. She attempted to sit up on the side of her bed this evening and started crying in pain. Poor Sissy. She has been up in her chair twice today. As expected, transferring from her wheelchair to bed is very painful to her. She was just too sore to get up. Mainly it is her right side which wrecks havoc upon movement.

She has not had a bowel movement in days, which is normal after gastric bypass. Was told to take M.O.M. aka milk of magnesia. She has had a few bowel movements.

She drank one ounce of protein shake about 20 min ago and within 10 min she was puking it up. Just 5 min after her health aide Peggy left at 11.

Rosie’s health aide Dina will be here at 1-3 tomorrow. Peggy will be here from 3 to 11 again. May have to request additional respite care for Sunday but for now none is planned. Regular (non-respite) appointment’s are on Mon, Wed, Fridays for 90 min to 150 min. They give Rosie baths, washes her hair, changes her bedding, cooks, do dishes, and minor lil things like that for her. They  have helped alleviate some of my stress. The health aides have been coming for almost a year. Prior to that I did it all. Rosie, Dad, and I adore Peggy and Dina both. They are now family. :-)

I pray that the pain and gastric distress subsides. Gonna call Rosie’s nurse  at Dr Boyce’s, if it doesn’t get better soon. Rosie paid $3000.00 CASH for emergency nurse assistance, nutrition classes, etc. that Dr Boyce REQUIRES!

Rosie is still experiencing pain. Ugh…

I slept ONLY 3 hours last night…NOT STRAIGHT… and then I napped for an hour today. Rosie woke me every hour or so to urinate last night. She normally can do it without assistance but is too sore from her Gastric Bypass Surgery (7-26-2011) to do it alone. She can get the bed pan under her but since surgery needs help to remove it.

Thank God for My John. He has been such a blessing. Poor thing didn’t sleep while Rosie and I were at the hospital. He is a wonderful man and my best buddy.

I am wore out. Gonna hopefully get to bed in a few hours.

I love my sissy and pray that she starts feeling better.

~Angela

Rosie Update

Rosie is eating/drinking ice chips, sips of water, Popsicles, jello, crystal lite drinks. She can take about an ounce or two at a time and then she is over stuffed.

She is doing her legs, arms, and shoulder exercises as well as her breathing ones.

She is now on Lortab Elixir.

Dozing off and on.

So proud of her.

So glad she located the Food Network. LOVE IT, I love it even more when I am dieting.. Weird I know! But seeing yummy food satisfies my hunger. :-)

I am trying to determine which of the 3 lazyboy chairs in Rosie’s Suite is the most comfy… My butt is so sore from sitting all day. Achy Breaky Butt.

I am drinking the 50% apple juice and 50% water they brought Rosie. She hates Apple juice. It is pretty nasty being watered down so much.

I had Grilled Chicken with Strawberries and a Cobb Salad. I still have over half of it left.

I am ready for bed. Removed the cute mini wrap-dress I had on. Took off my makeup…. Now wearing a long maxi sundress. I am getting exhausted. Been up since 4 am. Sitting around Hospitals is tedious. I am impatient and hate waiting.

Rosie should be urinating soon. Catheter has been out for a few hours. Really next GIANT step is when the gas starts… and it will! Mine has yet to stop. LOL! For some reason Gastric bypass increases the gas… burping and or farting. Nurse just told us they had “Gas Parties!”

LOL!

Grateful that Daddy made it home safe.

Hope Rosie is well enough to go home on Thursday.

Love and Prayers,

Angela

Surgery COUNTDOWN….

Rosie had her nutrition class yesterday. Also had some labs drawn. Has more labs to be taken on Monday. Plus x-rays and ekg. Diet has begun. Her surgeon requires 2-4 weeks on his diet which includes his own line of protein enhanced foods such as pasta, cereal, oatmeal, shakes, puddings, even salty snacks. She is allowed 6 items of those daily plus she has to drink 64 oz or more or fluids daily. She has already started on her vitamin regime…which she will follow for life.

Rosie is now wearing the clothes I wore prior to my gastric bypass. She has lost 2-3 dress sizes already.

I have went from a size 26 to a 12-14. Even have a few size 9-10 pants. :-)

I am so proud of Rosie for losing weight and for deciding on having surgery on her own. She will be having a BPD/DS Surgery on July 26th. Really appreciate all your prayers. May they continue….

SO happy with the news that my cousin Bekka received today. Hoping for even better news for her and her family. Plan on going to see her in Sept/Oct if not sooner. I love you Rebecca!

Rosie has an ear infection.. The nurse allowed me to look inside her ear…. it looks nasty and painful. She is on Augmentin for it.

Dad has not smoked in a  few days and is really hard to deal with him. So moody. Pray that he can get his emotions controlled and loses his addiction to nicotine.

My uncle Franklin passed away yesterday. Prayers to my cuz Leslie and her family.

Sending love and prayers to everyone.

God Bless You All,

Angela
