Rosie is having a much better day than yesterday. Praise God. Her RN Pete just changed her wound vac and the wound looks so much better. Seems to be healing nicely. Rosie has had no nausea, diarrhea or vomiting today. Only drinking clear fluids today. Prayers appreciated.
Rosie has nausea and vomiting. Unable to keep down her liquids, protein or vitamins since last night. Just called her bariatric nurse Sarah, waiting for her to call me back. Worried about dehydration. Please pray for Rosie. Thanks!
RN just called in Zofran. Dad is gone to pick it up.
I am measuring Rosie’s urine output. Total must be 800 cc over a 24 hour period or she will have to go to the hospital. Last one was 200 cc.
Rosie is back to clear liquids for now. Pray her esophagus starts feeling better. Feels like it is burning. Must be inflammed and irritated.
I am so worried about Rosie. She is getting better by the day BUT it looks like her hernia wound is infected. I hope it isn’t. So worried she may have to go back in the hospital. She sees her surgeon tomorrow… I pray that if he has to debris the wound that it is pain-free as possible. She hasn’t been getting enough protein in… but she is trying. I am exhausted from work and worrying. Have to rise and shine at 6 am tomorrow. Prayers appreciated. THANKS!
Please pray for my sister Rosie. The RN believes her ‘open’ hernia wound is infected. She goes to Dr Boyce on Friday. She is doing ok. Getting stronger. Her hospital bed was delivered today and she loves it…. is sleeping soundly.
I am fatigued. Keeping weird hours to assist her. I pray that I sleep well tonight.
So blessed to had a caregivers help this weekend. Peggy helped us tremendously. I was able to nap 3-4 hours. Trying to catch up on lost sleep.
Gonna miss the additional help Rosie has been having the past 2 afternoon’s and nights. So hard to get her in and out of bed by myself.
Rosie had a good day. Peggy and I were able to shampoo Rosie’s hair. It had been 11 days since it was washed.
Rosie did well on her quota’s that Dr Boyce requires::
60+ grams of Protein
64+ ounces of Fluids
2 scoops of Dr Boyce’s powered vitamins.
I give Rosie lovenox injections daily.
Nurse Pete taught me how to clean her picc line with saline. Have to do it twice daily.
An RN will be here 3 x’s a week. They will be changing the picc line dressing and changing all the Wound Vac dressing from her open hernia wound. They also will be doing a PT and INR testing of her blood twice a week.
Rosie had some diarrhea today. Hope that it subsides. She is staying pretty full from all the protein shakes, juices, and water. She drank too much and too fast tonight and had minor indigestion.
Smoki, my cairn terrier, is so jealous that Rosie is getting so much attention. He has been down in the dumps… gonna give him extra attention before he goes to bed with me. He thinks everyone should be focusing on him.
My sugar got too low tonight. Just getting it back to normal. I ate some Strawberry Hi-Lo Low Carb Cereal… was Yummy.
I am aching all over tonight. Sore muscles and joints. Vicoden is not even helping with the pain and burning. :-(
Had some weird ear sensations all day today. Not sure what is up with that.
Been so busy that I neglected taking my vitamins for the past 2 weeks. Started on them again last night.
Rosie’s caregiver Dina will be here for a few hours tomorrow and Wednesday. Peggy returns on Friday. Pete will be here Tues, Thurs, and Saturdays for the next 6 weeks.
Pray that Rosie’s hospital bed arrives tomorrow. Had to be special ordered. Grateful that Rosie has insurance that covers all her medical needs. Gonna get Dr Melling to order her a new wheelchair seat. Her wheelchair is so uncomfy that I am certain it is contributing to her lower back aches and pains.
I bet she has lost 20 more lbs. Will be excited to see how much weight she has lost. Will know Friday when she goes to Dr Boyce. Since she is in a wheelchair and unable to stand,Dr Boyce weighs her while in the wheelchair and then we take away 275 lbs for the wheelchair and its batteries.
I am hoping that I can get to my next goal weight by Friday. Fingers crossed. Only 4 lbs away!
Had a severe panic attack at the grocery store yesterday. Hate to go shopping alone. :-(
Rosie is so sore that she can’t sit up very straight. So slouchy all the time. Pray she regains her strength. She is getting stronger by the day.
I have to take a letter from Dr Boyce to Dr Melling’s office in regards to her blood thinner management.
Need to get some groceries for dad. He says he has no food in the kitchen… our pantry is mainly filled with foods that he won’t eat… aka Healthy Foods.
I pray that Rosie sleeps well throughout the night and only has to get me up once. She has been waking me every 2 hours… she needs assistance with using her bedpan. She is drinking so many fluids that all she does is urinate. Dr Boyce wants her to urinate at least 600-700cc a day and she mets that quota easily in one peeing. I She is urinating around 10 times a day. I bet Dad does not pee 600 cc in a WEEK! He does not drink enough fluids and we constantly fuss at him.
Dad pickled some beets and eggs. They are so yummy. Will be even better by tomorrow.
Gonna go get Smoki and head to bed.

Had her first Home Health visit today with Pete who is an Registered nurse. He will be visiting 3x’s a week to do wound care. To me they are KEWL Pics. Wounds and Blood do not bother me at all.
I have slept 4 hours. Will try and nap when her caregiver Peggy gets here at 3pm for some respite care. Peggy will be here till 11 pm tonight. Was a blessing last night. I was wore out. Not much better today. Fatigued. Achy. My Fibromylgia has been acting up for a few days. Also had a menstrual period this week. My 3rd in 6 YEARS! Yuck!
GOOD NEWS I have lost more weight! I am wearing a medium size 8-10 sundress and size 7 panties right this minute. So proud of myself.
Gonna go get a protein bar for lunch and then get a lil rest.
My Sis Rosie had a pretty good day. Got in all her fluids, protein, vitamins, & meds… 1st time since her gastric bypass that she met all her goals. She sat up in her wheelchair for 2 hours. Napped for ONLY an hour. Only had mild nausea. She is able to move better. Still very sore at her hernia repair site. I am Praying that she has a speedy recovery.
Rosie is wore out. She sat up in her wheelchair for over an hour. She cried getting back in bed cause she ached so much. She can’t sit up straight cause her tummy muscles are too sore and weak since the hernia operation on Monday… to be able to straighten herself up in the chair… she slumps.
As soon as she drinks her powdered vitamins she pukes them up or poops them out. Gonna get the RN to call Dr Boyce.
She is so weak… it scares me. Hate seeing her like this. Prayers needed. Thanks!
As the cna’s and nurses aides were changing Rosie’s bed linens… while she was in the bed…. Rosie started having pain in her hernia repair… navel region… as well on her sides. She was crying in pain. Just took some tylenol. Needing prayers. I hate seeing my sissy cry.
Rosie will get to go home tomorrow IF she gets in her liquids, vitamins, and protein.. and keeps them down. She vomited 2x’s yesterday. She has stopped the lortab and is taking tylenol for pain. Not in much pain 2day. Gonna be getting her up in her wheelchair today. Hope it is as pain free as possible. Rosie is no longer loopy. No talking in her sleep. More alert. She is actually making some sense today! :-)
She is drinking her fluids slower today. Only 1/2 oz for each 15 min. She has a slew of pills to take. We give her one every 30 min. Actually not we.. Just me!
Dumb ass aide asked me for help to get Rosie on the bedpan. The prob was the aide was putting the potty under her the wrong way! Good Lord… she is suppose to at least know how to put a bed pan under someone the correct way! She is in her 60′s. Dad told me not to tell on her since she is so old.
Dad is driving down today. Takes about 50 minutes to get here… depending on traffic.
I slept well last night but I am tuckered out. Gonna nap off and on all day. Rosie is sound asleep. Yesterday in her sleep she was hollering for Smoki and the cats. :-)
I just got off the phone with Smoki. Dad says he was so excited to here my voice. Dad had it on speaker phone. Can’t believe he figured out how to turn on the speaker phone by himself. He can hear me so much better on speakphone. His hearing aids don’t do well with the phone even though the phone is hearing aid compatible.
Time to wake Rosie up to take 1/2 oz of decafe ice tea.
I just pray that Rosie gets back to her old self soon.
She has had no tylenol for 8 hours now and is in no pain. Thankful for that.
I am achy breaky all over. Fibromyalgia flare up! UGH!
Rosie is so weak and tired, Plus she is swollen (bloated) all over. Face is so puffy… Edema…. From all the fluids and the surgeries she had had. She looks worse today than she had. Looks out of it.
Really bad coughing. Getting up the chunky funky thick phlegm.
She slept only a few hours.
All vitals are normal.
She is feeling much better.
With all this coughing it can reopen or cause a new hernia, Praying that she stops coughing.
She is getting a picc line today.
Also a new bed. The one she is in now is so uncomfy.
Rosie is feeling better each hour.
I assume that she will be here (Parkwest Hospital) until Wed/Thurs.
I had some crunchy raisin bran and skim milk for breakfast. YUM.
Rosie had some unflavored protein with Crystal LIGHT Orange flavored and Skim Milk. It is SO-SO. Gonna check and see what other flavors they have down stairs in the cafeteria.
Rosie has had no diarrhea in almost 20 hours now. No vomiting. Nausea is not too bad.
After her umbilical incarcerated hernia repair, that she had yesterday…she is feeling much less pain. She says her tummy no longer feels floppy.
Only pain prob now is her sore throat.
They are getting her a bariatric bed, the one she is in is not comfy at all. Afraid of her getting bed sores. Wound specialist is coming later today.
The anesthesia is making her groggy even 20 hours after it was given to her.
She looks kinda loopy at times. Weird eye movements, napping often, talking in her sleep, etc. Looks HIGH as a kite!! LOL!
She is on the antibiotic invanz via IV.
Doc Boyce wants a picc line in case that Rosie gets dehydrated at home…she can administer her fluids, iron infusions, and/or antibiotics without going back to the hospital. The picc line will remain in her for a few weeks, just in case it is needed. Better safe that sorry.

Rose has had no pain meds in almost 5 hours. So glad she isn’t having any pain in her abdomen.
Gonna go mix up skim milk, unflavored protein powder and orange crystal light. 3 ounce is 15 protein. She needs 60 daily.
Rosie just sent a nurse out to tell me not to worry and that surgery would begin in 15-30 min. Dr Boyce is working her into his schedule.
I pray that the good Lord guides and instructs Dr Boyce’s hands to be able to do the best hernia repair possible on her. That she heals well and has no more issues with hernias. This is her second one. Had one repaired in 1999 after a 6 month bout of chronic bronchitis and coughing. This hernia is in the same area as that one was. Only noticed it within the last 6 months.
Pray that she no longer has stomach pains, nor nausea, nor vomiting, nor diarrhea and that she can recovery quickly from it all.
Dad is on his way to the hospital. Should be here within the hour.
I have been teary-eyed and worried to death about Rosie. I am here all alone.
I LOVE MY BABY SISSY!
Pray that God preforms a miracle and heals her. I want Rosie to have a full, healthy, and long life.
