Rosie had her last pre-op testing today. She has lost over 50+ lbs since Feb!!! So proud of her.
Dr Boyce ordered a bilateral ultrasound test to check for blood clots in her legs. She had one today and will also have one after surgery. Dr Boyce and his staff are very well organized. WONDERFUL PROGRAM!!!
Surgery is less than 2 weeks away. I am so excited for Rosie! Have prescriptions for her meds that Dr Boyce requires prior and after surgery. Getting them filled tomorrow.
So far Rosie and I like all the foods that we have purchased from Dr Boyce’s office. Spent over $500.00 on the PROTEIN foods and vitamins. Rose is so finicky.. so pleased that she actually likes the PROTEIN items Dr Boyce sells.
I have lost 12lbs since my first visit. Dr Boyce wants to see me after Rosie’s surgery to discuss what he thinks need to be done for me. I only have lost 60 lbs since I had Gastric Bypass 21 months ago. Still would like to lose 50-75 MORE lbs. Dr Boyce has gathered all my records from Dr Mancini’s office. Just hope he suggests BPD/DS for me. Hope he can going back in and check my Roux-en-y. In order for my insurance to pay for additional surgery there has to be something wrong… Still having upper left quadrant pain and severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome.. which I have had since surgery.
Rosie is online looking for some dresses in smaller sizes. I still have a slew of dresses I bought prior to my surgery. One I wore for the first time today. Really cute mini dress… which I wore biker shorts under. Rosie almost bought a red prom dress today in a size 20. It was only $10… thinking to going back and buying it for her. Can’t wait till she is able to go into any store and find clothes that fits her.
Rosie had her nutrition class yesterday. Also had some labs drawn. Has more labs to be taken on Monday. Plus x-rays and ekg. Diet has begun. Her surgeon requires 2-4 weeks on his diet which includes his own line of protein enhanced foods such as pasta, cereal, oatmeal, shakes, puddings, even salty snacks. She is allowed 6 items of those daily plus she has to drink 64 oz or more or fluids daily. She has already started on her vitamin regime…which she will follow for life.
Rosie is now wearing the clothes I wore prior to my gastric bypass. She has lost 2-3 dress sizes already.
I have went from a size 26 to a 12-14. Even have a few size 9-10 pants. :-)
I am so proud of Rosie for losing weight and for deciding on having surgery on her own. She will be having a BPD/DS Surgery on July 26th. Really appreciate all your prayers. May they continue….
SO happy with the news that my cousin Bekka received today. Hoping for even better news for her and her family. Plan on going to see her in Sept/Oct if not sooner. I love you Rebecca!
Rosie has an ear infection.. The nurse allowed me to look inside her ear…. it looks nasty and painful. She is on Augmentin for it.
Dad has not smoked in a few days and is really hard to deal with him. So moody. Pray that he can get his emotions controlled and loses his addiction to nicotine.
My uncle Franklin passed away yesterday. Prayers to my cuz Leslie and her family.
My sis Rose Lee will be having duodenal switch biliopancreatic diversion “Gastric Bypass” Surgery on July 26th. Only 21 days away!! She is starting a High Protein Low Carb Diet this week. The last week or so prior to the surgery it will be all liquids high protein diet. In support of her I will be following the same diet. We are starting this diet on Thursday. She has her educational class and labs on Wednesday of this week. She is getting excited. She is down 2 clothing sizes already. So proud of her. I love you Sissy!
Gastro-Intestinal update: I am now taking bentyl and welchol for my irritable bowel sydrome. No accidents in 5 days. Very pleased. Thanks to Dr Melling!
Started menstruation last night. Only 2nd period I have had in over 6 years. I am wondering if it is related to the new meds or perhaps my thyroid. Thyroid has been too high. Doc Langton lowered my synthroid dosage. I have been losing my hair… again. I am positive it is related to my thyroid issues. Thank God for wigs and hairpieces!!!
Had a lovely trip to West Virginia last weekend. Had a blast with my – 6 almost 7 year old – cousin MaShayla who spent one night with us at the hotel. It was her first time in a hotel. She is so beautiful, smart, and loquacious. That sweetie can talk all night and day about anything. She is interesting to chat with. I am missing her!
I want everyone who reads this to say a prayer for my Cousin Rebecca. Lord knows I am praying for her.
I haven’t had much of an appetite for a few weeks…. ever since I started bentyl I have to make myself eat. We went to the Gondolier for dinner. I had a salad and fettucine alfredo. Sauce on the side. I used about 1/3 of the sauce. Could only eat about half of it… having leftovers tomorrow.
Dad, Rosie, Smoki and I went on a late evening picnic @ Panther Creek State Park the other day. Had an awesome time. Got some Kentucky Fried Chicken and a cantaloupe for the picnic. Smoki had more fun that anyone. Gonna go on a picnic weekly as long as the weather is nice. Saw an 8 point buck, some does and one fawn. Not to mention 3 dead roadkill skunks. Phew-Weeeee!
I have had a Summer head cold for a week now. Mainly coughing, headache, and ear tickles.. now Rosie has it.
I drove on the Interstate for the first time last week. Drove through Bristol, TN to Wytheville, VA. I did well. I am still amazed that I am driving!!!
I pray that I have more energy this week that I have been having. So much I need to do before Rosie has surgery.
While John was on holiday with his sis in Turkey last week, I was bored and I started playing Farmville again.. alas I am hooked once again.
Started using a MicroNeedle therapy roller on my face. Suppose to help rejuvenate new skin and erases fine lines and wrinkles. Not sure it is working all I know is it hurts! 250 fine needles…. .5 mm. Skin is feeling a wee bit raw so I wont do it as long or as hard as I have been. I have read good reviews on this product. Will write a review after i use it for few months.
Bentyl makes my mouth so dry. I am parched. UGH
Coughing… I don’t cough much during the day.. but late at night it starts up… pray that it goes away.
I am knackered. I havebeen staying up to 4-5 am and it has caught up with me. Going to bed,

She will be having Duodendal Switch with Biliopancreatic Diverision on July 26th with Dr Stephen Boyce as Surgeon.
Rosie and I both will be starting a MONTH long high protein liquid diet prior to her surgery. I am doing it in support of her. I hope to lose a few pounds and lose 15-25 lbs. during this time.
Rosie is getting excited about losing weight and regaining some of her life. Appreciate your prayers. THANKS!
I am so happy for her yet worried at the same time. I pray that surgery and recovery goes smoothly and that she can adapt readily to the lifestyle DS/BPD requires.
I had Roux-en-Y surgery on Sept 14th 2009 and lost over 1oo lbs. Doing well. I still can only eat small meals at a time. I have days where I still have issues with certain foods. But mainly eat what I want but in limited quantities. My life has changed since surgery. I have more confidence and self esteem. I can do more but with having chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromylalgia I often do more than I should and end up paying for it later. Like I can go out and shop for a few hours and then barely can get out of bed the next day. Still having fibro aches and pains as I did prior to surgery. I still don’t tolerate heat very well. It can be 95 degrees outside.. and when I walk into an air-conditioned store I end up with chills and torrential sweats. HATE THAT!
My Family doc has been trying various meds to help with my IBS. Was on Questran and it didn’t help. Start on Bentyl tomorrow. Been having cramps and diarrhea more and more often. Fecal incontinence is almost nightly now. No fun at all. Embarrassing and humiliating. Not sure what has caused this but it happened after Gastric Bypass Surgery. If Bentyl does not help Welchol is the next treatment planned. I am on Immodium a few times daily. Have been for years.
I start on metaglip tomorrow for my diabetes and stop glipizide. I continue on Victoza as long as I can get samples from my endocrinologist since my insurance will NOT cover it.
Still on Cymbalta, Xanax, and Trazodone for my nerves and anxiety.
I take Vicodin for my fibromylagia pain.
I am now wearing a size 10-12-14 in clothing.. All depends on the designer. I even have a few 7-9 that I wear. VANITY SIZING! Cause I am a size 16 I am sure! I have about 10-15 lbs of excess stomach skin. Gonna be talking to some plastic surgeons about removing it. Still desiring breast augmentation. What I once had is now saggy sloping deflated boobs. Have to roll em up to get them in my bra. LOL! Not really… but almost!
I still can’t believe I got my drivers license. So PROUD of myself. Major break-through for me. Congrats to myself.
John just got back from Portugal and Spain today. Has an awesome tan. Looks incredible. Glad he got some time to enjoy himself. Was thrilled to see him tonight. Woo-Hoo! We have a special date night planned for Wednesday. I missed him so much and cried daily while he was away. He and I webcam daily whenever possible. Have yet to meet. He is my best friend. We adore one another.
For 17 years I have not dated, been kissed or made love to. Yes, I am lonely and I pray to have patience, perseverance, wisdom, and guidance to whomever or whatever God wants me to have in my life.
I am going out to the mall tomorrow afternoon/evening. May go to the movies. Not sure yet.Rosie and I need new bedsheets. Plus Rosie needs a few items for after surgery. Already got her some really cute nighties. She has dropped 2 dress sizes this year. So proud of her. She is gonna be one hot sexy SKINNY mama! She is already gorgeous.. Can only imagine what she will look like in the future.
Went to The Great Smoky Flea Market yesterday. Got some lovely Fascinators. John loved the hot pink flowery fascinator I had on tonight. I also got 2 maxi halter dresses… BRAND NEW… for only $6 each. Got a size XL but needed L or perhaps a M. The dresses are so sexy but too revealing to wear out in public without a jacket or shawl. I wore the hot pink Hawaiian flowered one today to the Doctor. Mainly wore it for John. He thought I looked beautiful… and I DID! Also bought lots of $1 earrings. So adorable. Smoki went with us. He had a blast. He got fitted for a new red harness. He is so studly!
We were out for only around an hour yesterday. It was so hot. My body thermostat is all screwed up due to Fibromylagia… so when perspire… I sweat… dripping… drenched… UGH! They are times even in cold weather where I will have chills and the sweats at the same time. UGH. Frustrating to say the least. Since Gastric Bypass I get cold so easily. I will wear a sweatshirt most evenings cause I am so cold.
Another thing that has changed is my tailbone. I never had much of an Badonkadonk even at 315 lbs. So, now, after losing 110+ lbs I have zero butt left. No cushion there now…So my tailbone aches most of the day…. So I HAVE a pain in the ass daily.. Some say I AM a pain in the ass. LOL!
Allergy season is killing me. My nose will start dripping all the sudden… like a faucet…as well as my eyes tearing.. looks like I am crying. UGH! Benadryl and Claritin is not helping.
I have some leftover taco’s from El Sazon that I am making for my dinner tonight. I get them carryout. 9 taco’s with Meat and Cheese only… with Lettuce and Tomato on the side. They give me almost a head of lettuce and 2-3 chopped tomatoes. I remove the taco shells and discard them. The Taco meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes makes me at least 3 meals not counting how many dad and Rosie eats. So Tasty and filling. So glad that I can Still only eat small portions. Hope it stays that way forever.
I have also started doing laundry daily. Something I have never did in my life. I am getting good at it and actually enjoy it.
I am living with aches and pains from fibro, the IBS issues, my allergies, my insomnia/hypersomnia troubles, my diabetes, and my continuing social anxiety and panic attacks. It could be better and yet it could be worse… I am grateful for all the blessings and pray for the strength to conquer obstacles in my life. It will get better…
Allergy season really has me down. Headaches, Nose aches, Ear aches.. UGH UGH UGH!
I have irritable bowel syndrome for a number of years now. It has grown worse over the last year. Embarrassing. I am feeling so sick and have been this way for about 12 hours. Docs have tried numerous things and none have helped. Have an appt on Monday with my Doc to see what else I can try to ease my misery. Sick and tired of feeling so ill.
Need to rest. I was up till almost 8 am with diarrhea and cramping. UGH UGH UGH!
John (my best friend or I should say amigo) will be leaving in a few hours with his sister…. they are headed to Andalusia, Spain to celebrate the end of chemo and radiation treatments for his sis who was diagnosed with breast cancer. She needed a lumpectomy as well. He will be back next Monday but will hopefully find an internet cafe so he can send me a message or two.
He has not even left for the plane yet and I am already missing him. Been in tears. So stressed. Thank God for Xanax. He and I had a wonderful webcam session on MSN Live Messenger 2011. The best chat program around in my own humble opinion.
John has had a rough year. Severe infections, herniated discs, the flu, stomach issues… poor baby needs a holiday. He wasn’t feeling well tonight and was dreading the trip. I pray that he wakes up feeling better and can enjoy the time with his family. Nice breezy warm weather is my wish for him. Can’t wait to see his tan… he tans so nicely.
John asked me not to cry while he was away but I already have on 2 occasions and it has been less than 4 hours since I last saw him.
SHOPPING:
Went to the Farmers Market to find it closed. So we ended up at Walmart. Picked up some fresh produce: banana’s, peaches, watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and romaine lettuce. We already have pole beans in the fridge. Having all that tomorrow. YUMMY!
Gonna pick up some fresh strawberries, jumbo size cantaloupes, and corn on the cob this week.
Going to clean my bedroom tomorrow.
Tuesday Rosie (my sis) goes to her urologist for a KUB test.
Thursday will be Movie day… heading to the cinema’s… not sure what to see. Will either be Pirates of The Caribbean IV or X-Men: First Class… if Dad goes. If it is just Rosie and me, we will prolly see Bridesmaids.
Gonna try and keep busy… TRY to get my mind off John… I go insane without seeing him and talking to him daily. He gives me so much support and a serenity like I have never known.
Such a good man and an even better human being!
MAKE-UP:
I absolutely adore my Ardell Brow and Lash Growth Accelerator.
Ardell Brow and Lash Growth Accelerator.
My eyelashes are so much fuller and longer since I stated using it. THRILLED and it is such a BARGAIN in comparison to the similar production available.Plus I now have eyebrows!!! I am beyond thrilled with it.
I have also mastered filling in and enhancing my eyebrows. I am using Ardell Brow Defining Pallet Dark and Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel
Ardell Brow Defining Pallet
Ardell Brow Shaping Gel
Very pleased with ALL the Ardell Products I have tried.
NAILS:
I have pared my finger nails down. Very short. Gonna start growing them again. They grow so very fast. Gonna polish/varnish them with Revlon’s MidNight Affair and add some rhinestones to them tomorrow.
Revlon MidNight Affair Nail Polish Varnish
My toes are currently polished Black with a diamond dust overlay. My 2 big toes have a Large and a Small Rhinestone. So cute.I purchased so many adorable nail stickers… from the discount bin.
HAIR & MAKEUP:
I am digging my short BETTIE BANGS. I can wear them down or curl them back. I am now rocking the classic pin-up look with a more modern makeup approach. I did the classic pin-up eye today and ended up adding eyeliner gel to my lower lashline. My eyes get lost without it. I purchased the Professional ANGLED Finepoint Eyeliner Brush by ULTA and it is so much easier to draw a smooth line on my upper lash line. LOVE IT!
Ulta Finepoint ANGLED Eyeliner Brush
I have been using Extreme Wear Gel Liner By Ulta. Rosie and I have all 5 Shades. Each are lovely. Black, Brown, Blue, Green, and Purple. I adore the green. Really enhances my hazel eyes.
Extreme Wear Gel Liner ULTA
SOCIAL ANXIETY:
I had a panic attack at Walmart checkout. Got in line with a female cashier and before it was my turn to checkout… a male took over… He wanted to chat.. lately all men I meet wanna talk to me. PANIC STRICKEN…. I started sweating… drenched… then had chills while still perspiring heavily and then the racing heart. UGH!
HEALTH:
Gonna see my family Dr Blake Melling this week in regards to my nerves, anxiety, mood swings and my stomach issues.
STUFF:
I still can’t believe I got my drivers license. So excited. I am driving to Knoxville on Tuesday. One of my fave trips. I *THINK* dad is enjoying being chauffeured around.
I finally have my own set of keys to the house and our mini-van. Been buying all sorts of keys and key-chains. The house key is made from Tinkerbell casting! I usually don’t carry a purse but got an adorable blue jean Tinkerbell one.
TinkerBell
Also have a key-chain with ANGELA that is psychedelic and is animated when tilted… and a solar powered flashing light key chain that that says PRINCESS> John calls me Princess. :-) Also have a pink flashlight for my key-chain and a massive pink crystal heart. Also got some Tinkerbell window decals for MY van! I tell Dad it is now MINE. LOL!
A Local Bank temperature reading today was 101. It was a scorcher.
I am off to read the news, gossip, and Facebook status’ of my friends and family and then heading to bed.
I am not the same woman I was a few years ago and that is in a good way.
I only wish I could enjoy all the fabulous changes and opportunities coming my way… But Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromylagia are not allowing that. If I over-do it even a lil bit I am down for days trying to recoup from it. I have been aching from my head to my toes lately. Exhausted and lethargic. Been needing 12 hours of sleep even to attempt getting up the next day.
I have to Thank God, Dad, Rosie and John for helping me overcome so many obstacles. Also many thanks to all my doctors: Dr Blake Melling (Family Doctor) , Dr Joanne Langton (Endocrinologist) , and Dr Aqueel Kouser (Rheumatologist) to just mention a few.
Spent a lovely 3 night / 4 day weekend in Gatlinburg with my Sister Rosie. I was more fatigued this time than last years mini-vacay to Gatlinburg Family Fest / Gaither Homecoming Concerts. Went to 5 shows. Had a good time in spite of hurting in my shoulders, neck, back, legs and tailbone. I had to go to the bathroom often just to help relieve some of the tailbone aches. It helped.
I am down over 110 lbs now. Wearing a size 10-12. Receiving so much attention from men and I love it. Had guys ask me this past weekend if they could have their picture taken with me…. and that is not counting the ones who took my picture without even asking. FLATTERING.
I am dressing different than I had been. Getting back to dressing more provocative but not over doing it… gotta remember I am a 45 year old woman. Loving wearing dresses and showing off my legs.
Angela trying to look sexy and failing at it miserably. LOL!
My hair is now Jet Black. I use to dye it black for years… mainly in my 20′s. Love it and so does everyone else! I also cut some short bangs ala Bettie Page style.. but I still can style them away from my face if I want to. I sometimes wear hair extensions, wigs, and clip on pony-tails on occasion. Like to change my look often. Been wearing my hair is a beehive bouffant style lately.
Rosie had a eye appt. Visual Field Test prior to starting Plaquenil. My eye doc who is also Rosie’s eye doc, his nurse and receptionist barely recognized me. First time they had seen me with Makeup. I look majorly different with makeup they could not believe how beautiful I looked today.
I finally was brave enough to go take my road test to get my drivers license. Didn’t tell no one but Dad and Rosie just in case I failed… BUT I passed on my first attempt. WOO-HOO! Now if I can only get Dad to let me and Rosie take the mini-van out alone. He still says no… that I am not ready for that yet. I hope to make a short trip out with just Rosie and I…. we may go to the grocery store OR to McDonalds for some Unsweetened Ice Tea. MAYBE.
Rosie has a surgery date for Gastric Bypass. It is July 26th. She has to get pre-op testing, take an education class over the next few weeks. She will be on a low carb-high protein diet all of July. She has already lost 2 dress sizes. I am so proud of her.
Rose and Angela Picture was taken on Rosie's 44th Birthday
Gonna be driving to West Virginia to visit family as soon as the weather dips down to the 70′s- mid 80′s.
I do have more self confidence on some days. Still suffering from panic attacks. On Xanax full time now. SNOOZE…
My Rheumy has me on a high dose of a narcotic and it is helping *some* with the pain I have but it makes me so drowsy. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Snore…
Sugars are doing well. My Insurance will not cover Victoza injections but my doc is willing to give me samples. I may have to go on byetta soon. Will see.
Been having severe anxiety and depression at times. Gonna discuss it with Melling this week. I feel so helpless and worthless at times.
Rosie’s lower back has been aching for a few weeks now. She sees her urologist Dr Bedford Waters this week in Knoxville. I am driving. Can’t wait.
I am 45 years old and got my first set of keys for the car and house now.
I even pumped gas for the very 1st time last week. Kudos to me.
I have been pampered, spoiled and protected by my family for far too long.
I have even learned how to wash and dry clothes… still haven’t mastered the skill of putting clothes away. Nor doing dishes.
Dad has been in and out of the hospital for a few months. Currently he has protein in his urine, enlarged heart, COPD, pneumonia, a bum knee that needs replaced… and a case of the worst “grumpys n grouchys” in the world. His Doctors doesn’t want him doing anything but he still does some… albeit not as much as he used to. I know how tough it is on him to sit and do nothing… that contributes to his moodiness. He is rough on me and Rosie at times but we still love him.
Smoki went to Lowes today. Oh yea.. Smoki is my Cairn Terrier. He loves Lowes… and of course everyone adores Smoki. He is a doll. He wore his black leather fringe bandana today and he goes crazy when he see’s it and can’t wait till it is on him … and hates when we take it off. Went to Lowes to look for Dad a new riding lawn mower. Should be delivered tomorrow. His old lawn tractor has seen its last days. Also bought Dad a new TV 32″ LCD Plasma. He put it in his bedroom since that is where he spends most of his time lately. Appreciate prayers for him. THANKS!
Smoki My Cairn Terrier aka TOTO Dog
Then we took Smoki to Wendy’s for a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger plain. His fave.
Smoki
Came home to a brilliant webcam session with John. He is heading to Spain on Monday with his Sis to celebrate her finishing her last chemo/radiation treatments and hopefully is now free of breast cancer. John is the best. He and I get closer daily. Known one another for over 3 years now. Best friends. I am already missing him. He will be away a week but will send me emails/text messages.
Been having severe stomach issues again. Left upper quadrant pain and other issues. IBS Sucks.
May go to the cinema to see a movie this weekend.
Praying for all my Aunts, Uncles, and cousins… as well as my friends. Been reconnecting with so many people I went to school with on Faceook. I love getting reacquainted.
Tailbone is aching so I had better finish this and post it. Heading to bed.
Lower levels of testosterone are clearly linked to an increased risk of heart disease, says Dr Grainger. And if your mother had many sons before you, you’re more likely to have been exposed to male testosterone in the womb, causing you to have lower levels yourself as an adult.
‘It’s still not clear why, but it may be that exposure to testosterone in the womb somehow “resets” your body’s natural level to a lower point.’
Growing up with lots of siblings also raises your risk of a bug that can cause heart attacks.
The common and often symptomless infection helicobacter pylori is thought to promote inflammation in the body.
More… One cup cuts blood pressure, two stave off dementia… and six reduce your skin cancer risk – the GOOD news about coffee! Put down those digestives – they’ve got as much salt as a bag of peanuts!
‘And like many long-term infections, it’s thought your chances of contracting it are greater if you have lots of brothers or sisters,’ says Dr Grainger.
This is because it can be spread by saliva contact.
‘It’s a controversial link, but there are too many suggestive studies to ignore it completely.’
In a small study published in the journal Heart, patients with atrial fibrillation (a faulty heart rhythm) were around 20 times as likely to test positive for helicobacter pylori as the healthy volunteers.
GOING TO BED AFTER MIDNIGHT
Bad news for night owls: your risk of heart disease may be increased, even if you do get seven hours’ sleep once in bed.
Researchers from the Misao Health Clinic in Japan found that men who went to bed after midnight developed significantly stiffer arteries than those who hit the sack before midnight.
It’s thought that people who go to bed later are more stressed and are more likely to stay up late drinking alcohol, smoking or eating fatty, sugary foods — all bad for hearts.
ADULTERY
While it’s well-known that regular sex can be good for the heart, researchers at the University of Florence have discovered that married men who cheated on their partners increased their risk of a heart attack.
One reason may be that men who embark on extra-marital affairs may have an unhappy home life, and depression has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease.
Conversely, being in a happy relationship seems to protect men from cardiovascular events, they found.
Wonder water: In a study, men and women who drink more than five glasses of water a day were less likely to die from a heart attack
DEHYDRATION
Californian researchers studied more than 20,000 healthy men and women and found that those who drink more than five glasses of water a day are less likely to die from a heart attack or heart disease than those who drink fewer than two glasses a day.
The theory is that dehydration thickens the blood, which increases the risk of heart attack. ‘Basically, not drinking enough water can be as harmful to your heart as smoking or not exercising,’ said lead researcher Jacqueline Chan.
HOT FLUSHES
Women who go through an early menopause run twice the risk of a heart attack in later life, according to scientists at the University of Alabama.
In a study of 2,500 women, those whose periods stopped early were more prone to heart disease (in the UK, the average age of the menopause is 51).
The increased risk is because the hormone oestrogen has a protective effect on the heart, and levels decline after the menopause, explains Anna Dominiczak, Regius professor of medicine at the University of Glasgow.
‘However, this counts only when oestrogen is in its natural form, rather than hormone replacement therapy,’ she adds. ‘Synthetic versions of oestrogen have not shown the same protective effect.’
CREASED EARLOBES
A study in the British Heart Journal discovered many people who died suddenly from cardiovascular problems were found to have creases on their earlobes.
Swedish researchers also found that more than 80 per cent of people under the age of 40 who had succumbed to coronary artery disease had earlobe creases. One theory is that creases occur as a result of malformed blood vessels, which may also be true of those supplying the heart.
However, other scientists argue the likelihood of creases rises with age, as does the risk of heart disease, and the two are unrelated.
REFUSING A FLU JAB
There are more heart attacks in November, December and January, says Dr David Grainger, senior research fellow at Cambridge University.
‘This has been linked to the increased number of illnesses and infections we suffer during the winter months, which increase inflammation in the body,’ he says. ‘If you have heart disease, a flu vaccination will reduce this risk.’
Another reason for more heart attacks occurring in winter is because cold weather causes our arteries to tighten, raising blood pressure, adds Steven Griffin, a cardiothoracic surgeon at Castle Hill Hospital in Hull.
UNPROTECTED SEX
Chlamydia, the sexually transmitted infection that can affect both men and women, may trigger heart disease, according to Canadian research.
Scientists found that chlamydia can cause the immune system to malfunction, leading to inflammation of the heart. This inflammation in turn leads to hardening of the arteries, which can cause a heart attack.
Research is increasingly showing that inflammation in the body plays a key role in heart disease and cancer.
Worryingly, the number of cases of chlamydia among British women over 45 has shot up 95 per cent in nine years, according to figures released last year by the Family Planning Association.
LIVING ALONE
This doubles the risk of severe heart disease compared with living with a partner, Danish research suggests.
Scientists studied data on more than 138,000 adults and found women over 60 and men over 50 living alone had an increased risk of problems such as heart attacks. They said habits such as smoking and a poor diet are more common among those who live alone.
GETTING UP TOO QUICKLY
Lying in bed until the last possible moment could increase your risk of a heart attack if you already have cardiovascular problems, says Mr Griffin.
‘Any tablets that control blood pressure or angina you took the day before will have worn off by the morning, so don’t get up and start rushing around.
‘I often advise my patients to set their alarm an hour before they need to get up, take their tablets and then go back to sleep. That way, when you do get up, the medication has kicked in.’
Dad is still having severe edema and is so grouchy… he has been driving all of us insane including our pets.
I pray that he is feeling better tomorrow.
I even pulled over and had Dad drive today due to him making me so nervous. I even cried.
Had a nice lil chat with John. Adore that man. He always helps me relax and is so supportive and attentive. Sending love and prayers to him. He is working @ home for a few weeks due to a back injury and an infection. He was not feeling well and went to bed early. He arrived at chat late cause he was sleeping but said he had to see me tonight. So Sweet and Precious.
Started on Questran for my IBS. Increasing my dosage from once a day to twice a day to see if that helps. So far once a day doesn’t do much.
Been more active lately since Dad has been in and out of the hospital with Pneumonia and Urinary Retention. BUT I am wore out. Aching all over. Chronic Fatigue and Fibromylagia sucks.
Planted some strawberry and tomato plants in the garden this week …. also sowed some catnip seeds for my fur babies Tater, Jazzi, Punkin and Panther.
I have been driving a lot the past few weeks. Adore driving on the four lane. Gonna attempt to get my drivers license in the next few months.
Haven’t been sleeping well. Some nights I sleep like a baby then others I don’t sleep much at all.
Allergy Season is rearing its ugly head. Waiting on my insurance to approve Allegra for me. My forehead, eyes, nose and cheeks are swollen. So pianful. I go from a stuffy nose to a runny faucet in a matter of minutes some days. I even hurt in my ears, teeth and jaw from it.
Been taking better care of my hair, skin, nails and body. Hope to post a blog about it soon. Just so much is on my mind and so much transpiring that I haven’t posted much at all. Sorry. I know lots of my family and friends read this.
I dyed my hair… jet black. It is a medium brown naturally but I have dyed it Red for 6-7 years now. I use to dye it black.. way back in the day. Man I am getting old since I can say WAY BACK IN THE DAY. LOL
Hope to post some reviews on items I have purchased as well as places I purchase stuff from.
Rosie is doing great. She has dropped 2 dress sizes already. She still needs medical clearance letter from her family physician Blake Melling to get approval for Gastric Bypass…. Looks like it will be Summer when she has it. We all adore Dr Melling. Best doc we ever had. SO compassionate. He explains things and listens to us. Dad, Rosie and I all see him. Mom did as well. Good Man!
Ok it is 2 am and here I am blogging when I should be in bed. Heading that way.
Sending love and prayers to Aunt Susie’s family. I love all of you.
Also much love to my cousin Brandy. Hope to see all my WV Family soon as Dad is well enough to travel.
I won tickets from Harrah’s Casino to see the Bret Michaels concert tomorrow night!!!! Woo-Hoo. I am going! It is about 90 miles away. Gonna play a lil poker while there. I love poker!!
Dreams Do Come True.
It has been 16 years since we saw him in concert.. also been 16 years since we have attend ANY Rock Concert. Rosie and I are so excited!
I am back to the weight I was the last time I went to a big concert.
I have been wearing heels, stockings, and short dresses for the past week. Got my sexy legs back. WOO-HOO!
I am so grateful for God helping me lose weight and for the doctors and surgeons who assisted me along the way. Still would like to lose 50+ lbs. God willing.
I have completed a mani and pedi. I used Opi’s Happy Anniversary.
Been shaved, plucked and even pruned today. LOL!
Still unsure what I am gonna wear to the show. I do know I am wearing black fishnet stockings and either knee-high black leather boots or perhaps black 3″ wedge sandals. Did a test run with the new sandals today as we ran errands and was pleasantly surprised that I could walk in them comfortably. One of my goals after gastric bypass was to be able to wear shoes with over an 1″ heel and I now am up to 3″…. gonna try even higher ones when I find a pair on sale.
I have been taking care of my skin, hair, nails, and body much better over the last few months. My fave moisturizer is butter flavored crisco. YES! Crisco. I use it over my entire face and body. A few times a week I put it on my feet and then cover that up with a thick layer of vaseline and heavy socks and sleep in it. My feet are totally different now… in a positive way. Smooth instead of crusty and calloused. WINNING! LOL. Also been using grape seed and apricot oil on my face, hair and body on occasion.
I chopped off 12″ of my hair last April…. I had already cut a few inches prior to that. Since then my hair has grown about 12″. Not bad at all. Better than average. So pleased.
My current nape hair is 12″. From widows peak to the back length is 22″ now. I was almost 32″ in Sept 2009. Getting there! After Gastric Bypass I lost about 30% of my hair so I chopped it off. It is now growing back thicker and curlier. :-)
CURRENT VITAMIN REGIMEN:: Got them from PURITAN.
VITAMIN D 10,000 IU
MAXIMUM BIOTIN 7500 mcg
OMEGA-3 FISH OIL 1500 MG
IRON FERROUS SULFATE 28 mg
PROBIOTIC 10
FOLIC ACID TABS 800 mcg.
OMEGA-3 FISH OIL 1500 MG
VITAMIN B-100 COMPLEX.
I have purchased some Human Hair extensions from EBAY and Hair Sisters. I have a sets in 24″, 20″, 18″, 12″ and 8″. I adore my extensions. They are so comfy and looks like my hair did prior to the chop. Since the extensions are human hair I can color and curl them as I wish. I also have a few synthetic pieces, a bun, a ponytail, a 3/4 wig and others… I wore the bun today and it looked spectacular. So quick and easy to use. I had slept in grape seed oil on my hair last night to condition it and didn’t have time to rinse it out… So I gathered it all up in a ponytail and slapped a synthetic hair bun and I was ready to go.
My hair and Rosie’s hair is rolled in Pillow Curlers tonight. Great comfy and long lasting curls.
Tomorrow I will prolly wear my 20″ 100% human hair extensions…. curled…. with a half pouf aka beehive aka a snookie on top.
My current hair color is dark brown almost black. I get all sorts of compliments on it. I adore all the male attention I am receiving but it still scares me.
The last 5 pics showcase my real hair. Rest of the pix have hair extensions in them.
I have found some terrific bargains on clothes this month online and in stores. Got around 10 dresses. All were at least 75% off. Sizes range from a 10 to a 14. Two years ago I was wearing a 24-to-28 in jeans. Currently I am wearing size 12 jeans… but probably can get into size 10 STRETCH denims with lycra.
Just remembered I got a short black mini-skirt last week… gonna go find it and I may wear that tomorrow. Hmmm…. so many decisions. I do know I am gonna wear a dark smokey eye, cat eye liner, pink blush and glittery fuchsia lips. I might even wear a corset with that skirt.
Sleep? I wish I could sleep well EVERY night. Some nights I sleep 2 hours , next night I will sleep 12 hours! Dr Ahmed put me on restoril. My sleep study showed mild sleep apnea. I quit breathing 6 times an hour which is not bad enough for a cpap machine. I found out I also snored 41 times a night. not bad considering some people snore 1000′s of times nightly. Dr wants me to stay on Trazodone, and TRY restoril. I honestly think restoril keeps me awake some nights. Only taking trazodone tonight. He also has me on a low dose xanax and a high dose lortab. He said that along with my fibromyalgia I have chronic fatigue syndrome. UGH!
I am enjoying driving more and more but Still HATE it. Gonna try get my drivers license in the next few months. Wish me luck!
Looks like Rosie won’t be having Gastric Bypass till June or so. Waiting on some of her docs to send it their paperwork. Rosie has lost a clothing size already and can prolly even get a smaller size than that now. So proud of her. Love her so much.
Gonna call Dr Boyce in regards to a tummy tuck. Really have way too much excess skin flab in my tummy area. .. always have carried the majority of my weight in my stomach region.
Sugar is doing well. Still off my insulin pump. I am taking 1.2 mg of Victoza daily and 2 Glipizide daily. So far so good.
Gonna put on a top coat of GELOUS. The best top coat and nail strengthener I have ever found. LOVE IT!
I have very puny, weak and pale eyelashes & eyebrows. Always have… Last week I started using ARDELL LASH AND BROW EXCEL I also started using ARDELL BROW & LASH GROWTH ACCELERATOR yesterday. I have noticed a major change already. Longer, Stronger, Thicker and Darker lashes and brows. Joyous! Still gonna wear fake eyelashes to the Bret Michaels Concert tomorrow.
Still need to do a facial prior to going to bed. Already exfoliated. Still need to tone with witch hazel, use clindamycin gel or desonide gel, and then moisturize and then use my Ardell Lash and Brow Growth Serums.
It takes a lot of time. effort and money to look this cheap. LOL!
Gonna go read the news and gossip online .
Sending love, prayers, and support to everyone especially my friend Dreama and her family.
Rosie had her Stress test yesterday at the University of Tennessee. Her cardiologist Huntsinger just called and all is well. :-) Her heart is good and it is a go for Bariatric surgery. Woo-Hoo. Rosie is so happy. Now it has to be submitted to insurance.
Rosie has also lost weight. Her jeans were too big yesterday. She is all giddy and smiling over that. So happy for her.
I haven’t been weighed in over a week. Prolly haven’t lost any. But I am feeling more alive and beautiful than ever.
Allergies wrecking havoc on my head. Headache and blurry vision today.
Taking one glyipizide and on .6 Victoza and still going too low at around 4-6 am.
It has been rainy and fibromylagia is roaring its ugly head all over my bod. Slept 13 hours last night. See a new rheumy tomorrow. Achy all over. Exhausted.
Waiting for John to come back online to webcam chat.Already chatted once today. Poor baby has tennis elbow and is having to take a few weeks off from work. Praying for him.
Had a long exhausting day. After the doc appt’s we went to Big Lots. Got a few great bargains. My fave was Bret Michaels Snapple Trop-a-Rocka Diet Tea was only $2.00 for 6…. I have been paying almost $6 for them. I got 5 cartons and sipping on a bottle now.
Rosie made some stir-fry beef and pineapples with wild rice. I could only eat half of what was in my plate. Really filled me up quickly.
My endocrinologist was pleased with all the steps I have taken in regards to stopping my diabetic meds… and to keep on doing what I am.
My thyroid is too high. Lowering synthroid dosage to 125 mg.
Cholesterol was up. BP great. Doing an HgA1c in 2 months…
and I HAVE LOST 6 MORE POUNDS! :-)
Rosie saw the Cardiologist. He wants to do an echocardiogram on the 21st… just to make sure everything is ok. He thinks it is… but says the surgeon and anesthesiologist would rather see a test result than rely on only his opinion.
Thought I wasn’t gonna get to chat with John but he finally came on to chat. He had fallen asleep. We webcammed awhile. He looks so much better than he did last week. Finally getting over the flu. He is gonna attempt to go to work tomorrow if only for half a day. He went to the doc and he has tennis elbow. Getting a cortisone shot next week in it. We had a fun chat. I Love to make him laugh. He is and will always remain my best friend. I love him. Treasure our friendship. He says the sweetest things. I am just confused about a lot of things going on in my life and grateful for John. We laughed and cried tonight.
I wore full makeup today with False eyelashes. John loved it..
I looked at some pics of me that were taken when I was 100 lbs heavier and CAN’T believe I was that large. So blessed that I was able to lose over 100 lbs and I continue to lose.
Thankful that I am off insulin… and grateful for Victoza. I am taking .6 now. Had to come down from the 1.2. I am down to ONLY 1 glipizide… had been needing 4.
I showed Dr Langton (my endocrinologist) the rash under my belly. She gave me diflucan for it. I have so much loose and hanging skin in my tummy region. Worse there than anywhere else. Hope to have a tummy tuck when my BMI gets down to 30.
It is 2:30 am and I am off to bed.
Asking God to guide me to the man who will help compliment my life. I surrender.
I am only taking Victoza… back down from 1.2 to .6 since I have been going too low.
I was on 4 Glipizide daily.. Now on only 1 of them.
No INSULIN at all.
HURRAH! Victory. WINNING!
My current sugar reading is 106! Wow! 70-120 is normal.
I still get all the symptoms of going hypo when it gets under 120. I am use to it staying around 200 all the time…. even when I was on insulin.
WEIGHT: I don’t think the scale I have here is accurate. So I am NOT weighing myself till I see Dr Melling on Thursday. Last time I saw him I was around 224… I think… hard to remember. I know I am much lower than that now. I hope to weigh less than 215 when I do get weighed. I will be thrilled…..AND If I am under 210, I plan on celebrating with a Banana Split… I wish!
I am so shaky right now. Gonna eat a protein bar, and then go to bed.
I just realized a few minutes ago that I have now loss a total of 110 lbs from my highest weight (January 2009) I am jumping for joy. I am only 6 lbs from my next goal of 199. Woo-Hoo!!! I can almost taste it. It is scrumptious.
When I get under 180 I am planning a tummy tuck. Been researching plastic surgeons in Knoxville already. Excited.
I have many future plans which I hope to announce later this week.
Sugar was normal when I woke up then once again spiked to the 200′s and then back to normal. UGH! Still off the insulin pump and taking Victoza 1.2 and no appetite. YAY!
My friend John has the flu. We didn’t chat for 3 days but he did come online tonight to let me know he was still feeling poorly. Sending prayers to him.
I sent a private message to Stephen Fry last night about a dream I had of him and he replied! He has replied to 80% of the private messages I have sent him. My crush on him is thriving! He is so charming… wish he wasn’t gay.
I have been receiving so many complimentary messages from men online. I love all the attention. Makes me feel awesome. So many men wanting to get to know me… date me…marry me…
POISON on tour with Motley Crue and The New York Dolls! Just hope they come nearby. I will be there. I have not seen Poison nor Bret since 1994. I stopped going to Rock Concerts after my massive weight gain. I am back to my groupie weight now! Woo-Hoo. Look out boys here I come! LOL
We are going to see The Kings Speech tomorrow.
Also planning on grocery shopping.
We close our home refinancing loan on Friday. Was approved also for a home equity loan any time we wish to use it. Blessed.
Spent a few hours transferring balances on my credit cards to ones with lower interest rates. Trying to save a buck so I can get a tummy tuck and breast augmentation someday.
Been doing lots of stretching exercises. I feel pretty good right now…. BUT earlier today with all the rain I was in misery with shoulder and leg pains.
I didn’t sleep well last night. Got in only 3-4 hours. So I am planning on going to bed soon.

The following will raise you glucose levels and make you want to eat more carbs so I advise DO NOT EAT the following:
Since last week I have lost 2 inches from my stomach (across my belly button region- I am now 42″ ) and waist (38″). When I measure my hips under my tummy… I am 39″. I have lost none from my bust. Thank God.. not much left as it is. I also have lost almost an inch from my calves. They are down to less than 13″. Wrist is 5 3/4.
Didn’t lose any weight today. Staying at 206 lbs.
I am pleased.
Been feeling poorly all day. Yucky. My lil tum-tum is upset. Can’t concentrate at all.
Waiting to webcam with John. Pray he is feeling better.
I am so thrilled that I am losing weight AGAIN! It has been almost a year since my weight has headed below 215. I had went up to 230 a few months ago. Was so depressed and distraught. Felt like a failure in all aspects of life. How could someone Fail when it came to weight loss surgery… I did…. Well it failed me. Was not the cure I had sought. Still not sure why but I only lost 52 lbs in the first 14-15 months after surgery. I believe everything that happens… happens for a reason… even though you may not understand it at the time. I now know that I was not ready mentally for any more weight loss. I feel like I am indeed ready for some life altering changes. I am all gung-ho and ready to change even more.So much has happened in the last 3-4 months in my life. I am gaining confidence. I have started to drive a car. Becoming more positive and outgoing. I am so ready to take charge of my life… instead of it controlling me… I am large and in charge… No make that… medium and in charge…. Soon to be… small and in charge.
My next goal weight is 199 lbs. I am 7 lbs shy of that now. Hopefully in a month or so I meet that goal.
Next goal for me is 165 lbs. That will set me at 150 lbs lost from my highest weight of 315 lbs.
When I make it to that goal I am gonna get a tummy tuck. I have been experiencing rashes under my belly for a few months. Have one now. It gets red and inflamed… even gooey and stinky. YUCK! It will go away but flares up again. I know that skin removal will be the only thing that will cure the infections I am getting. I have very loose flabby and saggy skin. My panni hangs low and loose. :-( Plus been having back pain lately. I bet I am carrying around 15-20 lbs of excess skin in my lower stomach area. I am gonna attempt to get my insurance to pay for my excess skin removal. Hoping to get Dr Melling to document all the issues the extra hanging skin in inflicting on me. Gonna take photos of it as well. Some insurances cover excess skin removal. I am hoping mine will and that I only need a tummy tuck aka Abdominoplasty and NOT a lower body lift ( Belt lipectomy)
I have always wanted Breast Augmentation but I think I need the excess skin removed from my tummy more. I will only get boob implants IF my insurance covers removing the excess skin… and IF I win the Lottery. :-)
John and I didn’t webcam tonight. Poor baby has a bad cold or possibly the flu. Pray he gets well soon.
So I am went back on glipizide. Sugar was 134 about 2 hours ago.
Still off insulin.
Hoping that I can stay off insulin since Insulin equates Weight Gain.. at least it has in my experience. :-(
I am just hoping that stopping insulin helps me lose additional weight and fat.
I know that some people report they continue to lose weight on Victoza but also many have reported that the efficiency of weight loss and appeitite suppression you have when first starting Victoza wears off after a few weeks.
I am praying that I continue to experience weight loss while on Victoza until I get to a normal weight and BMI. Also hopeful that being able to stop insulin will help my metabolism to allow my body to be able to use protein, fat and carbs in the proper format. SEE NOTES BELOW.
~Angela
NOTES:
The link between insulin and weight gain http://www.MayoClinic.com Weight gain is a common side effect for people who take insulin — a hormone that regulates the absorption of sugar (glucose). The more insulin you use to control your blood sugar level, the more glucose that gets into your cells and the less glucose that’s wasted in your urine. Glucose that your cells don’t use accumulates as fat. Insulin is a potent hormone that regulates glucose, fat, and protein metabolism. http://www.everydayhealth.com/specialists/diabetes/getenah/qa/Insulin-and-Weight-Gain/index.aspx In many cases, people with type 2 diabetes start insulin therapy when oral medicines cannot or no longer control their glucose levels. This means that blood glucose levels in the body have been elevated for an extended period of time. In this state, the body does not metabolize glucose, fat, or protein in a well-regulated or efficient way. Cells that require glucose to function properly begin starving because of inadequate amounts of circulating insulin. Fat metabolism becomes abnormal, which can lead to high triglyceride levels. The body’s metabolic rate then increases as it tries to convert this fat into a source of energy. These abnormalities are usually corrected when you begin insulin therapy. The body begins using glucose better, and the metabolic rate declines by about five percent. Insulin also helps the body gain fat-free mass, but on the flip side, it also helps it store fat more efficiently. Therefore, efficient glucose and fat metabolism and the reduction in metabolic rate cause most people to gain four to six pounds during the first two to three years of insulin therapy. Individuals who had poor glucose control, or who lost significant amounts of weight before beginning insulin treatment, usually experience the most weight gain.
I am down another pound. Down to 206. On the 3rd of February I weighed 221. That makes me minus 15 lbs. this month So happy.
Sugar was 154 this morn. That was without any insulin and no glipizide…. since Yesterday morn. Not bad.
I did get down to the low 90′s twice last night and ate a few bites of protein bar.. cause I was afraid of going TOO low.
Sitting here watching YouTube Video’s —- Rock Music.. I miss all those hard rock hair bands!!!!!
Listening to Poison, Warrant, Cinderella, Bon Jovi, Guns and Roses, Slade, Fanny, Queen, Sweet and more…
My Poor baby John has the flu. Had to come home from work early today. He just emailed and said he was heading to bed early so no webcam chat tonight. So Rosie and I will prolly watch a movie.
