Latest on Rosie

Rosie is doing ok.

Took her almost 6 hours to give a urine sample. Almost had to catheterize her.

She does not have C. Diff which is good news.

She has not vomited nor had any diarrhea in 8 hours.

Minor tummy aches and pains. HEr tummy looks very swollen. It is still tender when you touch it.

Getting plenty of fluids but hardly any protein.

She is snoozing now.

Her vitals  are normal.

Last white blood count was over 29,000. They think it is kidney, bladder, and/or urinary tract infection. On antibiotics via an IV.

I am heading to bed in about an hour.

Gonna devour a granny smith apple. YUM.

I pray Rosie wakes up feeling better and that her WBC levels have went down.

Love ya Sissy!

Update on Rosie

She is feeling better. They are checking her for C. Diff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._difficile since the diarrhea is so bad. She is drinking fluids well today. Sleeping often. Getting much needed rest.

I just ate a spinach salad. It was yummy. Got me all sorts of healthy snacks for my stay here with Rosie.

Gonna take a nap.

Goodness it is freezing in here but that is the way Rosie wants it.

Rosie UPDATE

I am at the hospital with Rosie. They have tried 3 times unsuccessfully to insert a PICC line into her. Gonna have to take her to surgery to get it in place.

Her White Blood Count is going up instead of going down as it should be.  Doc not sure what is causing it.

She seems much better but still have tummy pains and soreness… and diarrhea as well.

I slept ok last night. Am a lil tired. May take a nap later. I will be staying here with Rosie till she gets released.

I will be updating http://www.AngelaRose.com often. That way family and friends can all be updated on Rosies Condition.

Prayers needed,

THANKS,

~Angela

Rosie is in the hospital

Ct Scan, Blood Work, Urinalysis only showed a mild kidney infection. She is so sore and tender in parts of her abdomen. Has severe pain when the pain killers wear off. She is receiving invanz antibiotic by IV. They are placing in a picc line tomorrow.

She is feeling better. Much more alert. No more vomiting, very mild nausea and diarrhea.

Dad and I had not slept so we came home. I napped for 5 hours. Going to the hospital to stay with her tomorrow till she gets released.

I am so glad she is feeling better. I was so worried about her.

She was doing ok till around 11 pm last night. Then the pain, vomiting, and diarrhea started. She put off going to the hospital to past 1 am…We arrived at the hospital at 2. Rosie was the only  one in the ER. Had 2 different ER docs check her out.

Her hernia is inflamed. Hoping that they don’t have to go back in.

I am gonna call her, go shower, eat supper and head to bed.

Keep Rosie in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks,

~Angela

Prayers Needed…

Rosie is not feeling well. She attempted to sit up on the side of her bed this evening and started crying in pain. Poor Sissy. She has been up in her chair twice today. As expected, transferring from her wheelchair to bed is very painful to her. She was just too sore to get up. Mainly it is her right side which wrecks havoc upon movement.

She has not had a bowel movement in days, which is normal after gastric bypass. Was told to take M.O.M. aka milk of magnesia. She has had a few bowel movements.

She drank one ounce of protein shake about 20 min ago and within 10 min she was puking it up. Just 5 min after her health aide Peggy left at 11.

Rosie’s health aide Dina will be here at 1-3 tomorrow. Peggy will be here from 3 to 11 again. May have to request additional respite care for Sunday but for now none is planned. Regular (non-respite) appointment’s are on Mon, Wed, Fridays for 90 min to 150 min. They give Rosie baths, washes her hair, changes her bedding, cooks, do dishes, and minor lil things like that for her. They  have helped alleviate some of my stress. The health aides have been coming for almost a year. Prior to that I did it all. Rosie, Dad, and I adore Peggy and Dina both. They are now family. :-)

I pray that the pain and gastric distress subsides. Gonna call Rosie’s nurse  at Dr Boyce’s, if it doesn’t get better soon. Rosie paid $3000.00 CASH for emergency nurse assistance, nutrition classes, etc. that Dr Boyce REQUIRES!

Rosie is still experiencing pain. Ugh…

I slept ONLY 3 hours last night…NOT STRAIGHT… and then I napped for an hour today. Rosie woke me every hour or so to urinate last night. She normally can do it without assistance but is too sore from her Gastric Bypass Surgery (7-26-2011) to do it alone. She can get the bed pan under her but since surgery needs help to remove it.

Thank God for My John. He has been such a blessing. Poor thing didn’t sleep while Rosie and I were at the hospital. He is a wonderful man and my best buddy.

I am wore out. Gonna hopefully get to bed in a few hours.

I love my sissy and pray that she starts feeling better.

Rosie MAY get to go home today…

Rosie is doing fantastic. She has lost over 100 lbs already. Went from a size 32 jean down to a 22. She and I went to the mall shopping today. Found all sorts of bargains. Got $600 worth of clothes for $125. We bought clothes from size 12 to 24 for her.

I am rocking a strapless dress in a Large junior size- Should have gotten a size Medium. :-) I Love being able to find such a wide variety of clothes since I am now wearing clothes in a so called “NORMAL” range. It is a shame BUT most Plus size clothes have limited colors, styles, sizes etc.

Found a pair of black high heel leather sandals for $4.99. Were $49.99

Got a pair of black leather mules last weekend and a pair of tone-up aka rocker shoes which I adore. So comfy. I am 5’10″in them! WOO-HOO!

Still needing to find a new pair of boots for the Autumn Season.

I didn’t sleep well at the hospital and it continues now that I am back home. So tired. Been having lots of aches and pains all over. The cooler weather affects my fibromylagia and chronic fatigue syndrome.  I plan on heading to bed early tonight. Needing some rest and recuperation. Had an appt with my family doc but he was sick today. Rescheduled for next Tuesday. Get well Dr Melling!

I had such a lovely time with John tonight. We hadn’t seen each other much lately at all. Just so nice to laugh and relax with him. Shared so many laughs. He always makes me smile. So debonaire and  handsome. Adoring. Caring. He and I LOVE one another deeply. Been almost 4 years since we met online. He is my soulmate. My best friend. He and I share EVERYTHING. No secrets. No lies. We understand one another. We are closer than 99.9% of married couples. Blessed to call John my bestie. :-)

When Rosie was in the hospital and was so ill… I started overeating carbs. Stress does that to me. I will get weighed on Thursday at Dr Boyce. Hope I haven’t gain more than 5 lbs. I am now back on track. PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN!

I wore my hair up in an elaborate up-do with a  large fuchsia “fascinator” flower. John loves fascinators.. Rosie has an extensive collection of them. She has been an avid fan for many years. Rosie also collects gloves. Sexy fancy gloves. Some are opera length. All sorts of colors, styles, textures, and lengths. Really cool ones. Rosie also collects tiara’s!

John thought I looked very elegant tonight… with my shoulders bare and my hair up…. He could not get over how gorgeous I looked tonight. He RARELY sees me all dolled up. Cause 95% of the time he sees me without ANY makeup and my hair in a pony tail. I dress-up ONLY 50% of the time when I go out shopping ( once or twice weekly) and I NEVER dress-up when I am at home.

I did my pedi last night. Jet Black toes. Gonna do my mani tomorrow. Prolly silver nails. I may add some glitter to my toe nails.

Need to trim my bangs/fringe. Need to get some scissors first. Rosie’s RN Portia needed a pair of good scissors to cut the sponge for Rosie’s wound vac for her hernia. So I lent my hair cutting scissors to her. Need new ones now.. since those are now too dull to cut hair. Going to Sally Beauty this weekend.

My hair is growing very fast. Thank God! Just wish it was a tad thicker. It was much thicker prior to my gastric bypass which was 2 years ago.

Purchased some new makeup items yesterday. Enjoying them all. May write some reviews later on. New foundation, eyeliner gels, lipsticks, and lip glosses. I am also rying out 2 new Body washes this week.

Digging Katy Perry’s PURR perfume (combining top notes of peach, forbidden apple, gardenia, green bamboo with the heart of jasmine, pink freesia, Bulgarian rose with the base of vanilla orchid, creamy sandalwood, white amber, coconut and musk.) It is YUMMY!

Had more than one man tell me that I resemble Katy Perry. I take it as a compliment. She is gorgeous… just wish I had Russell Brand! :-P He is one of my faves!

Dyed my hair JET black 2 days ago.  Did Rosie’s in Light Intense Red. Looks cool!

Been lazy and haven’t took many pics lately. Did take some of Rosie today. Still need to get them from the camera to the laptop.

Rosie’s OPEN hernia wound is healing so quickly. Docs and nurses are amazed at how quickly it is healing. Hope they give the OK to stop the wound vac this week or next.

Rosie’s blood is too thin .. it was 4.8 yesterday. Gonna re-test tomorrow. It should be between 2 and 3. She is on coumadin (blood thinner) and is off it for 2 days to see if that help regulate it to a therapeutic level.

My IBS is doing ok. Went without Welchol a few days while Rosie was in the hsopital and I had some issues. Still having severe putrid gas but that goes with Gastric Bypass Surgery. The majority of people who have major stomach surgery complains with gas and gas pains. Some days it is much better than others. I always blame the cats and dog. LOL!

I had severe allergies this past few days. Yesterday I ended up taking a nap to help a sinus headache. That nap lasted 4 hours! LOL!

Getting off the laptop to go get a snack. Will prolly be cottage cheese and fresh pineapple. YUMMY!

I am so grateful for all the friends and family I have in my life.

Life is Good!

Update

Rosie is doing much better. More alert. Pain has lessened. She has a mild temp. Rest of her vitals are good. They will be doing labs at 3.

IF everything stays normal she will get to go home tomorrow. YAY!

I just knew I would get no rest and be wore out.. but just the opposite. Sleeping well. Feeling relaxed. I needed all this rest.

Just pray Rosie has lil to no pain and that the recovery goes smoothly. Surgeon said her surgey went perfect.. a routine surgery.

Getting drowsy… gonna eat a banana with Fat Free milk and hit the hay.

Sending love and prayers to all.

Feeling Better

Rosie is more alert, feeling better, eating and drinking well. Pain is controlled. Gonna start on Protein Shakes at Supper.

She and I have napped all day. Gonna head down to the cafeteria for my supper and a snack for later.

Rosie is gonna try and get in her wheelchair later. That won’t be a prob… but getting back to bed may be an issue.

So happy that Rose is doing so well. Hope she gets released tomorrow.

Update on Rosie

My sis Rosie had gastric bypass yesterday. Doing well.

Her White Blood Count is still up. It was up prior to surgery. Giving her levaquin.

Her Iron is low. IV of Ferritin gluconate in Sucrose.

Took her over 12 hours to urinate. Nurses and doctor were worried. She has pee’d twice now. They are hoping her output increases.

She has had some nausea. On meds to stop it.

She drank more than anyone else who had gastric bypass yesterday. 22 ounces.

Doc told us she had a lot of scar tissue from her gall bladder and spleen removal surgeries.

Also has a umbilical hernia. Which is large. Doc doesn’t think it would affect her intestines since it is so large. Plans are to have hernia repair and a tummy tuck in 6-12 months.

Finally got an accurate weight for her. At least now we know. They had been weighing her in her weigh chair and then estimating how much the wheelchair weighed. Will know next week how much she has lost since she was weighed in her chair. They had weighed her then subtracted 275 lbs for her wheelchair. It is quite heavy.

Her drainage tube is working great. She has 5 keyhole incisions.

Gonna get her up around noon. She is gonna be so sore trying to get up and to transfer to her wheelchair. Prayers Appreciated. THANKS.

She is napping now. I have to wake her up every 15-30 min to drink 1-2 oz. Just made her orange crystal light. She loved it.

I ate at the Bistro. I had 1 sausage patty, 1 scrambled egg, and 1/2 biscuit… It is not agreeing with me. Already vomited. YUCK! I still have 1 egg, 1/2 biscuit and 1 sausage patty left. I also got a banana, a granny smith apple, and Orange juice Trop50. All that should last until late in the evening.

My feet and legs are swollen. My lil toes look like plump Vienna sausages. I am laying in a lazy boy chair with my feet propped up. Hoping the edema subsides.

The hospital has Facebook, MSN Live chat and even Farmville.com BLOCKED… UGH! My poor crops are liable to die. Poor lil babies. LOL!

I can get my emails.. but can’t not send any. I can use MSN Live ONLINE to send John messages. Gonna email him this posting.

Rosie is burping well.. but no gas yet. Getting gas is a milestone after bariatric surgery. In Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass they inflate the stomach area with gas to be able to get around the stomach liver, spleen, intestine, etc. Rosie had her spleen removed 11 years ago  due to hemolytic anemia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemolytic_anemia . She was on the verge of death prior to removal of her spleen. They were not sure she would even survive surgery… The doc said it was a miracle that she done so well. She was better the day after surgery. At the time of her splenectomy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splenectomy she was on steroids to help with the anemia. The steroids caused her to go into Steroid psychosis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steroid_psychosis#Psychiatric_effects . She was seeing, hearing and smelling things not there. Plus she was on hyper speed. Would not shut her mouth YAK YAK YAK… and would stay up all night reading books.

Gonna go read email and then surf the news on the web.

Thanks for your prayers and may they continue.

~Angela

PS: Rosie just sat up on the side of her bed for the first time since surgery. Hope that next try she can transfer to her wheelchair.

Rosie Update

Rosie is eating/drinking ice chips, sips of water, Popsicles, jello, crystal lite drinks. She can take about an ounce or two at a time and then she is over stuffed.

She is doing her legs, arms, and shoulder exercises as well as her breathing ones.

She is now on Lortab Elixir.

Dozing off and on.

So proud of her.

So glad she located the Food Network. LOVE IT, I love it even more when I am dieting.. Weird I know! But seeing yummy food satisfies my hunger. :-)

I am trying to determine which of the 3 lazyboy chairs in Rosie’s Suite is the most comfy… My butt is so sore from sitting all day. Achy Breaky Butt.

I am drinking the 50% apple juice and 50% water they brought Rosie. She hates Apple juice. It is pretty nasty being watered down so much.

I had Grilled Chicken with Strawberries and a Cobb Salad. I still have over half of it left.

I am ready for bed. Removed the cute mini wrap-dress I had on. Took off my makeup…. Now wearing a long maxi sundress. I am getting exhausted. Been up since 4 am. Sitting around Hospitals is tedious. I am impatient and hate waiting.

Rosie should be urinating soon. Catheter has been out for a few hours. Really next GIANT step is when the gas starts… and it will! Mine has yet to stop. LOL! For some reason Gastric bypass increases the gas… burping and or farting. Nurse just told us they had “Gas Parties!”

LOL!

Grateful that Daddy made it home safe.

Hope Rosie is well enough to go home on Thursday.

Love and Prayers,

Angela

I am about to go to the cafeteria and get me some protein and a salad.

God Bless you All.

Surgery

Rosie is in pre-op. Surgery is about to get underway. She seems calm. Asking God to guide the surgeons, anesthesiologist, nurses and staff. I hope and pray that her recovery is as pain free as possible. I love my baby sissy.

Had a good looking doc come to check to see if I was able to get online. I did… but it is not allowing me to connect to facebook or farmville. Also not allowing me to go on MSN Live messenger. Will check AGAIN when I get to Rosie’s room. Surgery should take about 2 hours. Rosie has a mild umbilical hernia which the surgeon may repair as well. So her surgery may take longer. Just pray it goes smoothly.

First time we have been to Parkwest hospital for surgery. Seems well organized. Gonna go check the message board to see if Rosie’s status has been updated.

Will update when I can.

Rosie’s Gastric Bypass is only a few days away….

Surgery is on Tuesday the 26th. Doc called and she has an infection somewhere. Starting Cipro. Having labs again on Monday.

Rosie has went from a size 32 jean down to a… 26! Wow.. I am so proud of her.

A few months ago we paid over $40.00 for our Cairn Terrier Smoki Poki Loki to get a hair cut. Thought it was way too much. Watched some Youtube Video’s about dog grooming and bought him his own set of razor clippers. Gave him a “LION Cut” today. Was so easy and he didn’t mind it at all. The clippers were only $38 so we have already started saving money. He looks so adorable. He is out with Dad talking a walk. Dad spoils him so bad. He ordered Smoki his own Bacon Cheeseburger the other evening from Outback. Darn thing was $6. Last night Dad brought home leftover BBQ Ribs from Ruby Tuesday and I bought him some Ribeye. He wolfed it down. He refuses to eat dog  food. Will occasionally eat some cat food. He steals it from our cats. Dad fries Smoki a pound of bacon to fed him. Smoki will sometimes eat cheese, chicken, steak, beef,  and pepperoni. He loves Taco’s. LOL.  He also loves Peanut butter protein bars and corn on the cob.

Rosie has on a live video of some French Bulldog puppies… they are so cute… I  want one!

I was so sick last night. Didn’t fall asleep till 8 am this morn. Tummy issues. I am finally feeling better just tired.

I have been a lil panicky the last few days. Worried about Rosie and her surgery. I appreciate your prayers. Thanks.

God Bless,

Angela

Only 5 more days….

My beautiful sis Rosie will be having Gastric Bypass in 5 days. She has already lost 60+ lbs on her own. She has dropped 2-3 pant sizes already. I ordered her 6 pairs of Jeans in smaller sizes just to give her inspiration. She is doing very well on her high Protein- low Carb diet. We both forgot to eat Supper.. remembered at 9:30 tonight. Made Creamy Alfredo PROTEIN Pasta.. enhanced with skim milk mozzarella cheese. It was so yummy.

Rosie made some sugar free chocolate pudding and added a scoop of protein powder. It was delicious!

I am about to hit a major goal…. Under 200 lbs. Slowly but surely! My next goal is to be 175. Plan on getting a tummy tuck when I hit that goal. I have so much loose skin. Mainly my tummy area.. I am still getting rashes under my belly region due to all the excess flabby skin.

I can ALMOST get in a size 8-10 jean now. I do have some dresses and pants in size 4-6. :-)

I had a lovely evening with John. He is the sweetest man alive.I missed seeing him last night. My dad, Rosie and I spent Tuesday  evening in Sevierville. Smoky Mountain Knife Works and Outback Restaurant. Nice to spend time like that with my Daddy and Sissy.

I cut Dad’s hair today. Dyed Rosie’s Intense Red. Looks fab!

I am so tired… all the time.. STILL…thought losing weight would make me have more energy but it didn’t. Chronic Fatigue Sucks!

Going to the Mall and Wally World tomorrow. Plans to eat at Ruby Tuesday.

Sending love and prayers to all my family and friends. May God bless you all.

~Angela
